Support a ban on lawn and garden pesticides

Cosmetic pesticides are used to make lawns and gardens look nice, but they also endanger human health and the environment. Long-term exposure to pesticides can cause serious illnesses, from cancers to neurological diseases. Pesticides also harm pollinators—and therefore our food supply

In early 2010, the B.C. Ministry of Environment consulted the public about legislation that would protect us and the environment from cosmetic pesticides. Although most of the 8,000 respondents were in favour of legislation, the government has yet to announce a decision.

Ontario and Nova Scotia have banned lawn and garden pesticides that pose a high risk to human health. And B.C.’s new premier and environment minister have both confirmed their support for such a ban. So what’s the delay?

Tell B.C.’s Premier Christy Clark and Environment Minister Terry Lake you support a ban on cosmetic pesticides.
