Tell Prime Minister Harper to stop giving handouts to oil companies

Every year, the Canadian government gives more than $1.4 billion in tax subsidies to oil, coal, and gas companies. Why so many tax breaks for the fossil fuel industry? Handouts to polluting industries just encourage more pollution. Back in 2009, Stephen Harper committed to phasing out these subsidies. But just look at how much of the public's money has supported the oil companies since then! This money could go to projects that safeguard our future and our health. Our government should discourage pollution and promote cleaner and safer sources of energy. Tell your representatives to stop subsidizing oil, coal, and gas companies today.
